Kevin Pietersen’s sacking ‘unnecessary’ : Stuart Broad

Sidharth Gulati / 12 January 2015

England fast-bowler Stuart Broad has described KP’s sacking by ECB ‘unnecessary’ and said that the issue could have been dealt in a different manner.

Broad said:

“It just became a bit of a media uproar, the whole sacking, it just seemed a bit unnecessary when every other player in the history of the game just gets dropped for poor form.

“His form was pretty poor over 18 months, but every other player just gets dropped. Obviously Kevin’s very disappointed with that and every player should be disappointed if you’re not going to represent your country again. It could’ve been handled very differently, I think, by everyone.”

Pietersen was told that he would no longer be considered for selection after their disastrous Ashes 2013-14 campaign ( they lost 5-0 and also got hammered in the ODI series 4-1). And now, with the emergence of some extremely good young players like James Taylor, Moeen Ali, Broad sees no way back for Pietersen in the England side.
