The Kolkata Knight Riders were dealt a blow in the recent game against the Gujarat Lions in a top of the table clash at the Eden Gardens where Gautam Gambhir’s side fell to a 5 wicket loss.

After being reduced to 24/4, KKR managed to post a healthy 158 on the board but the in-form Gujarat batting line-up made light work of the target.

The effects of that match are not yet over for the KKR outfit as it is now understood that one of their squad players is now in trouble.

A recent press release from the Indian Premier League officials revealed that Australian veteran chinaman bowler Brad Hogg is facing a level 1 breach of the IPL code-of-conduct.

It is understood that the match referee for that game at the Eden Gardens has reprimanded the 45-year old who is said to have used inappropriate language during the game.

“Brad Hogg of Kolkata Knight Riders was reprimanded by the match referee for using inappropriate language, actions or gestures which disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction during a match,” read a release from the IPL officials o Monday.

It was also immediately revealed that the Australian veteran has already accepted the sanction and that he has admitted to committing the offence.

“Hogg admitted to the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials) and accepted the sanction,” the release added.

According to the IPL’s code of conduct, a level 1 offense as the one committed by Hogg will see the decision of the match referee binding which leaves the left-arm spinner with no chance to appeal his ban.

Hogg failed to play a huge role in the game against the Lions and went for 19 runs off his two overs but picked up the important wicket of Dinesh Karthik soon after he reached his half-century.

Taking the place of Sunil Narine in the squad, Hogg has a huge responsibility on his shoulders this season and will have to be careful to not end up being suspended in a crunch tie.
