After completing his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Dale Steyn is set to feature in the inauguration edition of Lanka Premier League (LPL), scheduled to begin on November 26.
Earlier, Chris Gayle, who was also set to play for Kandy Tusker, pulled out of the league albeit the franchise doesn’t inform about the reason for his withdrawal. But the addition of Dale Steyn will also make the franchise, owned by Bollywood mega-star Salaman Khan’s family, stronger.
LPL, on their official social media handle informed about the inclusion of Dale Steyn in Kandy Tusker’s squad.
“South Africa Fast Bowler Dale Steyn joins Kandy Tuskers franchise. @KandyTuskers @DaleSteyn62,” LPL tweeted.

Dale Steyn’s LPL performance will decide his future in IPL:
Dale Steyn featured in only three matches in the recently concluded IPL 2020. He was expensive while also had lost the knack of picking wickets. The Proteas notched only one wicket while registered a poor economy rate of 11.40. It will be interesting to see how LPL 2020 turns out for him. Because this league is likely to decide whether RCB will retain him or not for the next edition.
Well, more and more troubles have brewed in Lanka Premier League although only five days are left in the inauguration of the tournament. A couple of players, including Sohail Tanvir, had returned positive for the coronavirus and have been isolated. On the other hand, star players like Lasith Malinga, Sarfaraz Khan and some others have withdrawn their names.
However, amid all the chaos, Sri Lanka Cricket Board is adamant to organize the league. Sony Pictures Network India and Sky Sports have clinched the broadcasting deal of LPL 2020, which will span for 21 days during which 23 matches, including eight doubleheaders, will be played.
Colombo Kings and Kandy Tusker will play the season opener on November 26 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. The grand finale will be played on December 16.
