Mayank Agarwal Shares Great Bond With KL Rahul As Friends And Thinks Mindset Has Been To Help Each Other Always
When asked to Mayank Agarwal about this connection, the 31-year-old feels the common mindset to see each other grow makes their bond even stronger.
“We share a great bond as friends. He’s seen my journey and vice-versa. It’s been really nice that we’ve had that kind of friendship, even though somewhere down the line, we probably competed for the same spot.”
“But I think the mindset has always been to help each other. To grow,” said Mayank about his friendship with Rahul on Backstage with Boria.
KL Rahul has played 94 matches in IPL and has amassed 3273 runs at an average of 47.43. In IPL 2021, KL Rahul smashed 626 runs in 13 matches and was the third-highest run-getter, but unfortunately, failed to inspire the side to a title. KL Rahul has been the best opener in IPL since 2018 and scored 659, 593, 670, and 626 runs in the past four seasons, respectively.
Mayank Agarwal Labels KL Rahul As A Calm And Composed Character
Shedding light on KL Rahul’s personality, the 31-year-old called the former a calm and composed figure, who’s always ready to help.
“In terms to KL Rahul, he’s been a very calm and composed character. He’s somebody, who’s definitely going to give you suggestion. He reads and understands the situation very well,” he concluded.
Earlier, Mayank Agarwal was named the captain of the Punjab Kings after KL Rahul was roped in by one of the two new franchises in the tournament — Lucknow Super Giants — as their skipper. The 2022 edition of the extravagant tournament IPL begins on March 26 with Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opener at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mayank Agarwal of the Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab) has been named captain of the squad for the 15th edition of the IPL in 2022. Since 2018, Mayank Agarwal has been a key member of the Punjab Kings. He has previously served as the team’s vice-captain and captained the team for a brief while last season. Punjab Kings (PBKS) play their first game on March 27 against RCB at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Mayank Agarwal had captained the team briefly last year when KL Rahul was injured. Mayank Agarwal aggregated 400-plus runs in the past two seasons. He had made his IPL debut in 2011 and has so far played 100 games. The 31-year-old has also played 21 Tests and five ODIs for India.
Mayank Agarwal smashed an unbeaten 99 runs in 58 balls on his captaincy debut but Punjab Kings lost that game in IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals. He has played 47 games for Punjab Kings so far and amassed 1317 runs averaging 29.27 with 1 ton and 8 fifties.
