Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is likely to retire from Test cricket after the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (Chattogram).
Nazim Jar Abdurrahimzai, Afghanistan team manager, has recently confirmed Cricbuzz that the 34-year-old Mohammad Nabi will retire from the longer-format of international cricket after this Test match.

Nazim told Cricbuzz, ”Yes, he [Nabi] will retire after the ongoing Test match.”
Mohammad Nabi and Afghanistan national cricket team is currently busy in the only Test against Bangladesh. On Thursday (5th September), Bangladesh vs Afghanistan Test match started at Chattogram. Afghanistan are playing this Test under the new captain Rashid Khan. He has started this captaincy role at the age of just 20 years and 350 days and became the youngest Test captain in history.
The 34-year-old Mohammad Nabi has played all the three Tests for Afghanistan. In the first two Tests, Nabi scored just a total of 25 runs (average 6.25) and also took a total of four wickets.
Mohammad Nabi scored a duck in Chattogram Test
On the day one of the ongoing Chattogram Test, Nabi scored a duck after facing only three balls. Coming to bat in the 70th over of the day, young off-spinner Nayeem Hasan bowled him. However, at the end of the day, Afghanistan managed to score 271/5. On day one of this Test, Rahmat Shah became the first Afghanistan batsman to score a Test century (102 runs).
On the other hand, Asghar Afghan also remained not out on 88 runs at the stumps of the day.
Afghanistan, who are currently playing only their third Test, are not in the part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (2019-21). They will play their next Test in November-December against Windies at Dehradun. But, Nabi is likely to not play anymore the Test match.

Mohammad Nabi is likely to focus on his white-ball career. As Australia will host the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from 18th October to 15th November 2020, Nabi wants to feature in this tournament.
Nabi has played 121 ODIs and 68 T20Is where he has scored 2,699 runs and 1,161 runs respectively. Also, the off-spinner has taken 128 ODI wickets and 69 T20I wickets. He led the Afghanistan team in both the limited-overs formats.
