Mohammad Rizwan Hopeful Of Pakistan Levelling The Test Series Against New Zealand

Pakistan’s stand-in captain Mohammad Rizwan believes that his team is still positive of making a strong comeback after the defeat of 101 runs in the first Test against New Zealand.

Mohammad Rizwan and Fawad Alam had almost taken the team to victory but after the fall of their wickets, the lower-order didn’t show intent to save the game. As a result, on day five of the first Test, New Zealand won the match to get the lead in the two-match Test series.

While speaking to media, Mohammad Rizwan has confirmed that the Men in Green will be making changes in their playing XI for the second Test against New Zealand, which commences at the Hagley Oval from Sunday.

“We have thought of making changes for the second Test. We will sit down with the team management and decide, but there are going to be changes,” said Rizwan.

“The last match of any tour is very important. The series is still alive and all players are confident of giving their best. We have an opportunity to level the series by winning the next Test,” he added.

Mohammad Rizwan informed that Babar Azam is still feeling some pain in his thumb and thus, Pakistan team management has decided to give him more rest. He added that the skipper will be available for the South Africa series.

“Babar wants to represent Pakistan when he is 100 percent fit. He needs some more time to get fit and will be available for the South African series. His absence will certainly be felt, but it provides an opportunity for other players to perform like Fawad Alam did in first Test. Once Babar will be back, we will have a good combination,” Rizwan said.

Mohammad Rizwan also revealed that they will look to bowl first after winning the toss considering the weather conditions and greeny pitch.

“We will be looking to bowl first if we win the toss because the forecast is cloudy and there is grass and some moisture on the pitch,” he concluded.

With a victory in the upcoming last Test in this tour, Pakistan can draw this away Test series. Earlier, they lost the three-match T20I series in this tour by the 2-1 margin.
