Want to be a professional cricketer?
Looks like England spinner Monty Panesar has been struggling with form – both on and off the field. According to a report from British tabloid the Daily Mirror, Panesar had attempted to put England’s humiliating defeat at Melbourne behind him by trying to tempt an American blonde to his hotel room at the Como hotel in Melbourne, hours after England slumped to their fourth defeat in the series.
The report states, that the spin bowler chatted Alison up using a phone dating app Tinder, four hours after he bowled the final delivery in a resounding eight wicket victory for the Aussies.
But to his disappointment, Panesar had his advances rebuffed by the American backpacker who said: “I would have met him in a public place but I was not going to meet him at his apartment by myself. You would hope people do not do that.”
Alison, who had been to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to watch the cricket, had spotted Panesar on the matchmaking app Tinder after he uploaded a picture of himself batting against Australia.
Alison, who wanted her surname withheld, revealed: “I’d been to the Melbourne game, my first cricket match, the day before so I realised who he was. I sent a message because I wondered whether it was really him. I was shocked when it was.”
And was she was surprised at how quickly the England spinner responded, and also went on to speak of his fondness for American girls and asked her what she was doing that night.
The two continued to exchange messages, and Panesar was quick to invite Alison to his room at the Como hotel, explaining that the England team had been banned from going out.
England’s hierarchy had banned the players from heading out so that they could reflect on what has been an unforgettable tour for the England team.
But Alison, who is in her twenties, was quick to decline a meeting with the divorced Sikh Panesar, and explained: “I thought it was a bit strange he would be behaving like that so soon after they had lost. I wanted to talk to him about cricket but he had no intentions of that. All he seemed interested in was getting me over to the hotel.”
England’s lack of quality spin-bowling options had forced the selectors to turn to the erratic Panesar who had vowed to “repay the faith” the selectors had shown in him.
But a poor performance in England’s demolition at Melbourne saw Panesar being dropped from the team for the fifth and final test at Sydney.
What would bother Panesar more is that he failed to bowl this MAIDEN over! Want some dating tips? Call Monty Panesar!
