Veteran Indian commentator, Aakash Chopra has said that there would be no major impact on MS Dhoni’s career by the Indian Premier League 2020. He added that his form would be a key for Chennai Super Kings rather than him individually. Dhoni played his last competitive match against New Zealand in the World cup and will be back for the IPL leading his side in September.
Akash tried to clear the misconception the fans have that Dhoni’s team India selection would depend on his IPL performances. MS Dhoni last played an international match in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against New Zealand. Unfortunately, India lost the match and MS Dhoni has not been on the cricket field ever since.

IPL 2020 Won’t Be A Career-Defining Tournament For MS Dhoni: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel “From an individual’s perspective, from a batsman’s perspective or a career’s perspective it is not that important.” The stage he is in his career, he is not going to really fret about how each match of the IPL would go or whether he would be selected for Team India or not. He is past all of that.”
Akash stated that the only matter of concern is that CSK depends directly on MS Dhoni’s performances in the IPL
“The stage he is in his career, he is not going to really fret about how each match of the IPL would go or whether he would be selected for Team India or not. He is past all of that.”If he is in good form, it would be easier for him to carry the team. But if he is not making runs, then he will not enjoy the game as much. If I see from that angle, then each match that you play is important, also because he is playing cricket after a gap of one year,” Chopra added.
MS Dhoni Will Definitely Score Runs: Aakash Chopra
“But if you look at his career and comeback in Team India and all of that, I don’t think it is going to have a huge impact. He will score runs now also and his team will also do well, I have no doubt about that.” he added.
The former India captain has the record of 634 catches and 195 stumpings (the most) to his name as a keeper. Dhoni is also considered as one of the best finishers of the game. He has 10,773 runs in ODIs at an average of 50.83.
