Chief selector MSK Prasad has cleared the air on MS Dhoni’s retirement rumours. There were rumours that Dhoni will call it a day after Indian captain Virat Kohli shared a picture of the T20 World Cup match against Australia when he and Dhoni took India over the line. It was speculated that Kohli is giving a hint that MS Dhoni will call it time anytime soon.
Prasad stated that the news is incorrect and they don’t have any update on MS Dhoni’s retirement. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni had taken a two-month break from the game after the conclusion of the World Cup.
Dhoni has been a huge servant of Indian cricket.
Thus, Dhoni was not included for the tour of the West Indies and instead to choose to serve the Indian Army in Kashmir. In fact, Dhoni was expected to hang his boots after the World Cup but it wasn’t to be the case.
Furthermore, the former Indian skipper is also not included in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Dhoni was not available for selection and there is uncertainty on his future.
Prasad was asked regarding Dhoni’s future during the press-conference and he replied: “No update on MS Dhoni’s retirement, the news is incorrect.”
“Yes he was unavailable for selection,” MSK Prasad said.

The talismanic batsman hasn’t revealed any of his future plans and the time will only tell what Dhoni has in mind. Meanwhile, Dhoni has been under the scanner for his recent performances as his power-hitting abilities are on the wane. The master’s strike rate has gone down considerably and there is no doubt that the retirement is on the cards.
Dhoni has been India’s best captain and his records speak for themselves. The talismanic batsman hasn’t yet decided on his future and it would be interesting to note when the big news comes.
