Mumbai Indians bought Chris Lynn at his base price of Rs 2 Crore.
Ahead of the auction, Kolkata Knight Riders’ decided to release him. The decision came as a big surprise as he was the second-highest run-scorer for the team in IPL 2018 and 2019 – he scored 491 and 405 in past two seasons, respectively. Probably his price of Rs 9.6 Crore forced the franchise to release him. KKR had released him ahead of IPL 2018 auction as well only to buy him back for a high price.
In 41 IPL matches so far, he has scored 1280 runs at a strike-rate of 140.65. Overall, he has 4434 runs in 163 T20s that he has played so far. With an eye on the T20 World Cup, Lynn only plays white-ball cricket now and is prefers to play franchise cricket.
