Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh had performed well when he was part of SunRisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians squad in 2016,2017 and 2018 but was not given clearance by the board after being approached by two franchises to participate in IPL 2020.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was all set to play again in the on-going edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after being approached by a number of franchises. He, however, was denied from taking part in the tournament after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) didn’t give him necessary No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Mustafizur Rahman Was Not Given NOC By BCB After Being Approached By MI And KKR In IPL

Despite receiving offers from a couple of franchises participating in IPL, the Bangladesh international pacer failed to take part in the extravagant league. The left-arm pacer was reportedly approached by Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders but the BCB refused to give him NOC since Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka was to be commenced.

But the tour was postponed once again after both the boards failed to find a common ground on the quarantine period. The postponement of the series was a major blow for Mustafizur Rahman, who was allegedly offered a hefty sum of Rs. 1 crore by a franchise.

Mustafizur Rahman May Not Get Compensation: Akram Khan

After Mustafizur Rahman’s lost opportunity, questions were raised by many if he will get some compensation by the BCB. A similar incident had happened back in 2015-16 when the pacer was denied the No Objection Certificate to participate in Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, he has also compensated with BDT Taka 30 lakh.

But this time, Mustafizur Rahman almost has no chance to get compensation as clarified by Akram Khan who is BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman. Akram Khan also highlighted why the pacer was compensated after missing out on a PSL contract back in 2015-16.

“Because he had injury concerns, we did not allow him to go (PSL) and we tried to compensate him. This time it’s a different matter. He was picked by a team in the PSL while the negotiation was in the preliminary stage (IPL), and it is a fact that no team has picked him. We have not given him NoC for national interest, so there is very little chance of giving him any compensation,” Akram Khan said as quoted by BDcrictime.

Mustafizur Rahman’s last IPL stint was with Mumbai Indians in 2018, where he scalped seven wickets at an average of 32.85 and an economy of 8.36. He had more success however while donning the SunRisers Hyderabad jersey in two previous seasons (2016 and 2017).

In 17 matches for the Hyderabad franchise, the 24-year-old took 17 wickets at 26.16 and an economy rate of 7.14. He did not pick any wicket in 2017 as he played in just one match for injury but picked 17 wickets in 2016.
