After an excellent performance in the second Test match against Sri Lanka at Durham, England spearhead James Anderson has become the new number 1 bowler in Test matches, according to latest ICC test rankings.
James Anderson showed his class in the 2nd Test where he picked 8 wickets in the match. James Anderson is now 13 points ahead of 2nd place Ashwin and 15 points ahead of 3rd place Stuart Broad. James Anderson has a chance to increase its lead as England play Sri Lanka in the 3rd Test match at Lords from 9th June. James Anderson has been in excellent form in the series so far. He has taken 451 wickets in Test matches so far.
Indian off-spinner R Ashwin retains second place. R Ashwin will play four Test matches against West Indies in July and August. The gap between Ashwin and Broad is just 2 points. Ashwin has 871 points. The third place, Stuart Broad also slipped down to third place with 869 points.
The fourth place is occupied by Pakistan leg-spinner, Yasir Shah who has 846 points. The 5th place is occupied by South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn who has 841 points.
The sixth place position is occupied by India’s left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja who has 78 points. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult occupies the 7th position.
Josh Hazelwood is at number 8th in rankings with 741 points, followed by South Africa fast bowler Morne Morkel with 724 points.
The last place in the table is occupied by another South Africa fast bowler Vernon Philander.
In the batting rankings, no Indian batsmen feature in the top 10 rankings.
