The all-rounder from New Zealand, Mitchell Santner revealed the horrific injury scars he sustained in his leg.

Meanwhile, he felt pain on his leg during the fifth ODI against the touring England side.

As a result, Santner will miss the lucrative Indian Premier League which gets underway on April 7. He got his first contract earlier this year from Chennai Super Kings. Chennai is making a comeback in this league after serving a ban of two years.

While playing an ODI against England, Santner felt a strong discomfort in his leg. Later on, the scan reports revealed that Santner is suffering from a bone defect.

The doctor suggested Santner to opt for a surgery, which was the need of the hour. As a result, Santner will have to sit on the sidelines for a minimum of six to a maximum of nine months.

The 26-year old Santner revealed his injury in a picture he posted on Instagram. The post left everyone scared.

Happy Easter! #tourderehab” Santner wrote along with the picture.

Meanwhile, the Black Caps fans will hope that their favourite gets fit before ICC 2019 World Cup in England.

However, Santner’s injury came as a huge blow for the New Zealand team and support staffs. Speaking about the injury, head coach Mike Hesson said,

On a personal level, everyone feels for Mitchell (Santner). He’s a popular guy in the changing room, and he’s well respected for the work he puts in for the side.”

Mitchell is a key player in all three formats for us, so we’ll certainly miss him in the upcoming series (against England). It’s important though that he gets this fixed and we have him back for what is a big next 18 months for us,” he further added.

However, CSK is yet to announce any replacement for Santner.
