Tim Southee, New Zealand fast-bowler, has been ruled out of third and the final Test against South Africa due to a hamstring injury. Southee was struggling after the second Test loss at Wellington and post-match scans revealed he suffered a Grade 1 Tear on his left hamstring.
The selectors aren’t expected to name a replacement for the pacer as Trent Boult, who missed the last Test, is in line to make a comeback.
Injury concerns have been the case in the South African camp as well as Quinton de Kock is in doubt for the final Test due to a finger injury. It has been learnt the wicket-keeper batsman might skip the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), in order to be fully-fit for the Champions Trophy, that starts June 1.
The third and the final Test starts on March 25 at Hamilton.
