At a time when Mohammad Hafeez is desperate to come out of his third bowling suspension in international cricket, former Pakistan spinner has offered to help the allrounder correct his bowling action within a month if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Hafeez approach him.

Hafeez was reported for a suspect action by match officials following the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi last month. Earlier this month, he was suspended from bowling after he failed the biomechanics test which found several of his deliveries exceeding the 15 degrees level of tolerance. The latest ban is Hafeez’s third, having been suspended by the International Cricket Council in December 2014 and June 2015.

Ajmal, meanwhile, also claimed that the governing body of the game was “targetting only Pakistani bowlers” and urged the PCB to take notice.

“If the PCB takes some positive steps [to protect the bowlers], I am hopeful that Pakistani bowlers will not be singled out again for their bowling actions,” Ajmal told Pakistani news outlet The Dawn.

“It seems that the process was meant for me and (Mohammad) Hafeez, all other bowlers with questionable actions are still playing,” he added.

The off-spinner had suffered a similar fate by the International Cricket Council in 2014 but later resumed bowling after correcting his action before bringing down curtains on his career recently.

The former international spinner, who announced his retirement earlier this month, further said that he does not ‘want to beg’ PCB to get a farewell match, stating that the cricket board should have thought about it earlier.

“I don’t want to beg them [PCB],” he said.

At the same time, the 40-year old, who will retire after the ongoing National T20 Cup, expressed disappointment over the treatment dished out to him by the PCB.

“I played good cricket for Pakistan and for the PCB but in the end, I would not even get to play a good match to end my international career,” he lamented.
