PCB- Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling over the option of roping in former pacer Shoaib Akhtar as the bowling consultant for the national team. After Shahid Afridi’s appointment in PCB management committee, PCB is considering to approach Shoaib Akhtar for his expertise of the game. He can be given key role for the team in coming days.

Sources said the former ace pacer has already been contacted and he has also shown interest in working to improve the performance of the players. Shoaib Akhtar will soon meet the chairman of PCB management committee, Najam Sethi in Lahore in which Shoaib Akhtar will likely be offered a role in PCB.

Sources added that Shoaib Akhtar had also shown interest in playing key role in the policy making of the board. After his retirement from cricket, the Rawalpindi Express had several times raised his voice to make improvement in the Pakistani team.
Shahid Afridi Is Heading Selection Committee Comprising Abdul Razzaq, Rao Iftikhar And Haroon Rashid
Shahid Afridi who is currently heading the selection committee consisting Abdul Razzaq, Rao Iftikhar and Haroon Rasheed, had picked the squad for the home series against New Zealand.
“PCB Management Committee has appointed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi as the interim Chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee. Other members of the panel are Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Haroon Rashid will be the Convener,” wrote the PCB on their official Twitter account.

Shoaib Akhtar picked up 444 wickets from 224 matches he played for Pakistan across formats. As per reports, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar is on the radar to join the Men in Green as the bowling consultant. The Pakistan Cricket Board are considering to bring in the Rawalpindi Express after Shaun Tait’s tenure with the team ended.
Notably, the Pakistan team have recently suffered a defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the ODI series. After which, pacer Shahnawaz Dahani posted multiple pictures with Shaun Tait, confirming latter’s departure.
The Babar Azam-led side is not scheduled to play any international match in the next three months. The players will be involved in the Pakistan Super League, which is scheduled to begin on February 9. Following the completion of the tournament, the team will once again host the Black Caps for a five-match T20I and a five-match ODI series.
