India’s cricket schedule has been busy ever since the start of 2020. The new year started with the T20I series against Sri Lanka and then, within a week after completing the ODI series against Australia, India toured New Zealand to play the full-fledged bilateral series.
Currently, the team is playing the two-match Test series against New Zealand. Seeing the hectic schedule, the team management might give rest to some regular players ahead of the three-match ODI series against South Africa at home.
Thus, it might also give much-needed opportunities to newcomers.
Here, we have listed three players who might earn the maiden call-up in the upcoming ODI series which played between 12th to 18th March.
3 Indian Players who might get a maiden call-up in South Africa ODIs:
Suryakumar Yadav:
The Mumbai lad is in the eyes of selectors for a long time. The middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav has very well handled the pressure in the domestic circuit. Well, giving many victories to the team, he had also banked on some prolific performances for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Yadav can be given a chance in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa as Kedar Jadhav can be rested.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has used the all-rounder Jadhav as a pure batsman. He hasn’t given chance to Jadhav, to bowl in the last ODI series against Australia.
Besides, the all-rounder was also not good with the bat. So, Suryakumar, who has more potential than Jadhav, can earn up the call for the impending home series.
Talking about Yadav’s credential, in 93 List A matches, he has scored 2447 runs at the striking rate of 99.63. In the shortest format, he has scored 3012 at a striking rate of 139.12.
