Rishabh Pant celebrates a ton.
A good show in IPL can see Rishabh retaining his place in Indian team.

The former Indian batsman turned one of the best coaches in Indian circles, Pravin Amre, has batted for the emerging talent Rishabh Pant and has showered praises on the youngster, Pant, who has amassed a total of 799 runs in five Ranji Trophy games so far.

“We’ve got a good process here in India. We go step-by-step, and that is important. He has age on his side. He’s batting brilliantly right now and should continue doing that. He surely must be on the selector’s radar,” Amre said.

In this total of 799, Pant has smashed 79 fours and 44 sixes, which is a true reflection of his midas touch.

Being the coach of Delhi Daredevils, a franchise for which Pant plays for, Pravin Amre knows Pant very well, in fact, he also advised him to bring about a change in style of play asking him to slow a bit whilst batting as he said, “I just told him to imbibe discipline in his batting. It basically means discipline in shot selection. It’s a dream start for (him) this season. He’s a very good striker of the ball and is a confident lad, which is essential for any batsman. This boy has got self-belief in him that he can do well at any level. He has age on his side, and right now he is batting brilliantly,”.

Pant came into limelight when he smashed an 18-ball half-century in the U-19 World Cup against Nepal, becoming the youngest player to do so. Soon after this, he was snared by Delhi Daredevils for a hefty amount of Rs. 1.90 Crores for the 2016 IPL. He repaid the franchise’s faith by scoring 198 runs at the strike rate 130.26.

The stint with Daredevils and playing alongside stalwarts like Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, and Shikar Dhawan has surely helped Pant as he has developed gradually and has been able to replicate his performance of junior cricket at the senior level as well. He has had a flying start to the season and is already knocking the doors of the Indian team in all the formats of the game. Yes, but it is true that he has to bring about a change in his game and his perspective to be successful in the long run. As of now, he has reaped benefits from his old and aggressive style of play.
