Amre praised Rahane for his patience in the game and his belief in himself. His hard work has paid off and is proud of him.
“God is kind. It was really his hard work because the past two years haven’t been easy for him (Rahane). I will give him the credit for the way he handled himself. He was never frustrated and worked hard,” Amre said.
Pravin Amre felt Sorry for Rohit Sharma
He felt sorry for Rohit Sharma as he was not given opportunity in final XI. Even though Rohit has played and gained a good score in recent times.
“I felt sorry for Rohit. I personally feel Rohit should have been given opportunity also after scoring those five hundred. We know that he is a player capable of doing great things. But overall the team management backed Ajinkya and he returned that faith, which is important from Ajinkya’s perspective,” Amre told PTI on Monday.
Amre credited Rahane for his good game. He proclaimed that his 81 runs knock in the first innings motivated him to give the best. He has played 57 Test matches and scored 3,671 runs with ten centuries in his name.
“The Indian team is now No.1 in Tests and his contribution has always been always there. The way he has handled the situation in the first innings after India were reduced to 25 for 3 was commendable),” added Amre, a former Mumbai coach.
“My contribution is not that much because ultimately a player’s hard work is important. We are there to give them moral support and keep motivating. One innings can give you back that confidence and exactly that happened,” Amre added.
Next Test Match against West Indies will start from 30th August. India is in the lead with 1-0 of two-match Test Series.
