PREVIOUS YEAR CLASHES:
The first time they met was on 26th April in Abu Dhabi. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field. Rajasthan bowlers were brilliant with the ball and creating pressure on the Royal Challengers batsmen. Royal Challengers batsmen lost wickets at regular wickets. The top scorer for Royal Challengers Bangalore was Virat Kohli for 21. Royal Challengers were bowled out for 70. While Chasing Rajasthan Royals lost 4 wickets of Rahane, Nair, Samson and Watson. Rajasthan chased down the target in 13 overs.
After 15 days they met again but this time in Bangalore. It was a high scoring match. Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field. They lost 3 early wickets of Kohli, Gayle and Zol. After that Ab De Villers and Yuvraj Singh put up a brilliant partnership. Yuvraj Singh scored 83 off 38 while De Villers scored 58 off 32 balls. Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 190 for 5 in 20 overs. While Chasing Rahane and Nair put up first wicket partnership of 54. Karun Nair scored 56 runs. Rajasthan were struggling at 106 for 5 but Smith and Faulkner smashed the Royal Challengers bowlers and snatched victory. They won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare.
Virat Kohli , the captain of the team has not been in great form in the IPL so far. Against Chennai Super Kings he scored a fifty when the wickets were falling from the other side. He needs to lead from the front and take the charge. Also he needs to be proactive in his captaincy and bring good bowling changes.
After coming back from lay off from injury, Mitchell Starc bowled well conceding 24 runs in 4 overs picking 1 wicket. He bowled some great yorkers at the end and did not allow the batsmen to score runs. Against Rajasthan Royals the team would need wickets from him in the start so that the pressure is not on the other bowlers.
Ajiynake Rahane played again a brilliant knock against Kings XI Punjab. He and Watson put a 95 runs first wicket partnership. Rahane played some brilliant strokes on the bowling of Mitchell Johnson. He scored 74 off 54 balls and helped Rajasthan to post 191 for 6 in 20 overs. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore he needs to provide the same start to the team.
Pravin Tambe bowled exceptionally well against Kings XI Punjab. He did not allow the batsmen to score runs freely and was economical as well. In his 3 overs he conceded 20 runs with an economy of 6.66 which is great for a spinner. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore he needs to be economical as well picking wickets so that Royal Challengers do not win the match.
