Ranji Trophy 2016/17: Gujarat Odisha Contest Halted Due To Unprepared Pitch
Dec 23, 2016 at 12:30 PM
The third quarterfinal between Gujarat and Odisha was halted due to unprepared pitch on the opening day of the game at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
It was Gujarat Captain Parthiv Patel who complained about the pitch after he was hit on his arm by an awkward delivery, which bounced awkwardly of a good length. He complained to the two umpires, after which players walked off the field.
The two umpires- Yeshwant Barde and CK Nandan- after having a long chat decided to roll the pitch with a light roller, in order to settle the awkward part of the pitch.
This misbehaviour of the pitch forced umpires to call for an early lunch, only after 17 overs in the first session of the morning.
Meanwhile, Parthiv Patel was spotted rubbing an ice pack on the arm. The play will now start at 12:20 P.M. with Odisha trying to continue the great start provided by the bowlers as Gujarat is struggling at a score of 39/2 before an early Lunch was taken.
