Rashid Khan, Afghanistan spinner is doubtful for the first Test match against Zimbabwe due to a finger injury on his right arm. Rashid Khan was injured during his stint in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 where he played for Lahore Qalandars.
The 22-year-old spinner picked up a finger injury while playing for Lahore Qalandars against Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. He injured his finger while fielding a shot hit by Chris Gayle.
Rashid Khan’s Injury Will Be Reassessed On 28th February Before 1st Test On 2nd March Against Zimbabwe
Rashid Khan made his One-Day International debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in October 2015 and rallied on to make his Twenty20 International debut against the same team later that month.
He has played 4 Tests for relative newcomers in the Test arena, Afghanistan besides appearing in 73 ODIs and 48 T20Is and he has taken 23 Test, 140 ODI, and 89 T20I scalps. He has also picked 75 IPL scalps in 62 IPL games.
He is one of the economical bowlers as he is 3rd among bowlers with the best economy rates after Daniel Vettori and Sunil Narine in T20Is. His economy rate of 6.24 is the best in IPL history and his bowling average of 20.49 among the top 10 in IPL history.
“Rashid Khan is under-treatment by the relevant health officials in UAE and the final call on his inclusion in the first test will be taken after a reassessment of his injury on 28th February.”
“The Test series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe starts on 2nd March with the first match of the series to be played till 6th March 2021,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said.
The Afghanistan star is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 and once again, he gave a glimpse of his batting prowess by hitting a match-winning six in the Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi T20 match. Earlier in the match, spinner Rashid Khan bowled an economical spell of four overs, leaking just 14 runs for the Lahore Qalandars.
However, batting at number eight position, the maverick spinner scored a quickfire unbeaten 27 runs off 15 deliveries aided by Mohammed Hafeez’s unbeaten 33 to take their side over the line while chasing a modest 141-run total set by Peshawar Zalmi.
Currently the number one T20I bowler in the world, the Afghanistan superstar was plying his trade in Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament for the first time in his career. Last month, he was picked by the Lahore Qalandars as a platinum player in the players’ draft. He played only 2 games before leaving the camp.

However, Rashid Khan received a surprise fan comment from former England Women’s team star Sarah Taylor who asked him to teach her the way to play it. Rashid Khan also responded to her and replied that he would surely teach her how to hit the shot.
The first of the two Tests in Abu Dhabi will start on March 2 with the second game scheduled to begin on March 10. They will be followed by a three-match T20I series beginning on March 17
