Rashid Khan To Lead Afghanistan Attack 1

The stardom has never left the side of this young 18 years old, Afghanistan player Rashid Khan. From his ultimate cricket dream – to play in IPL – to bowling those googlies and being one of the most impressive spinners of the season has made this boy a star.

His googly has troubled many batsmen and he mentions three dismissals that have given him immense satisfaction.

“Miller would be top on my list followed by Brendon McCullum and Rohit Sharma. All three were foxed by googlies and are the best in the business,” he stated.

Rashid made his One-Day International debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in October 2015 and rallied on to make his Twenty20 International debut against the same team later that month. With his eight-wicket match tally in Afghanistan’s innings win over Ireland in the ICC Intercontinental Cup match at Greater Noida, he was already a bowler to watch out for. But came more into the limelight in this IPL edition, making his bid go worth. The legspinner has already taken 14 wickets in his 12 matches and now he is a star player for his national team.

He is the star name as Afghanistan recently announced their squads for ODI and T20 against West Indies in the Carribean. Afghanistan will play three T20Is and three ODIs against the West Indies at the start of next month. It will be the Asian side’s first bilateral series against a full member nation other than Zimbabwe.

Mohammad Nabi is also in the squad but Afghanistan will be missing wicketkeeper and opening batsman Mohammad Shahzad, who was charged by the ICC for a doping violation last month.

Afghanistan will be eyeing for a victory as this would also ensure their Test status. Rashid Khan also says that his dream is to play for a test for his nation.
