A report in India Today suggests that Ravi Shastri will ask for his own support staff from BCCI and the Board will give a green signal to his demands.
It has come to notice that Shastri was keen to bring back Bharat Arun as the bowling coach of Indian cricket team, who was there in the role when Shastri was at the helm. Under Kumble’s regime, there was no bowling coach and the spot was left vacant. As soon as Shastri returned, he wanted the seat to be fulfilled and the CAC appointed Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant. (Read Here: Ravi Shastri Wanted Bharat Arun As Bowling Coach, Not Zaheer Khan)
This has not come good to Shastri and in fact, he had an argument with Sourav Ganguly over this matter, as he wanted Bharat Arun back, whereas, Ganguly wanted Zaheer Khan. The left-handed fast bowler is probably the best ever fast bowler for the Indian team in this century and no one could have questioned his name and hence, Zaheer made the final cut.
A couple of days after being given the role of Head Coach, Shastri is all set to put forward his demand ahead of BCCI which the board is likely to accept, as results are only possible if a Head Coach is given the support staff of his choice. Shastri shares a good rapport with Arun and wants thus want him back. (Read Here: Ravi Shastri Praises Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan)
BCCI will soon look into the matter and then it will be discussed with CAC. Though the matter might take time and the final call will depend upon Zaheer Khan, who has been given the role for next two years till 2019 World Cup.
The Indian cricket is set to travel to travel Sri Lanka later this month and the tour will be the first-ever assignment for the newly appointed coaching staff. Though Rahul Dravid will skip the tour due to commitments with India A team, who will tour South Africa in July/August.
