Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian off-spinner has stepped up in the fight against COVID-19 and promised to distribute N95 masks. Wearing a mask is one of the ways to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The second wave of COVID-19 has hit the country hard and India is recording over 3.5 lakh cases regularly. India has also witnessed over 4 lakh cases thrice now and the death toll has also been on the high side. The country is also facing an acute shortage of oxygen, beds, and other equipment.

Ravichandran Ashwin Withdrew Midway In IPL 2021 After Family Tested Positive

While the country is facing probably its worst-ever crisis, many celebrities and common rich people are doing their bit in the fight against COVID-19 by donating to various schemes. Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, has also stepped up in the fight against COVID-19. Ravichandran Ashwin has promised to buy and distribute N95 masks.

The senior India spinner asked the Twitterati the ways to distribute the masks and wrote: “N 95 masks can be washed and reused. I am happy to buy and give it to people who can’t afford it! Please let me know ways to distribute them if you or anyone on my timeline knows how.”

Wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing are two ways to control the spread of COVID-19. Ravichandran Ashwin himself had a tough time a few weeks back as 10 members of his family tested positive for the infection. The COVID-19 cases saw him withdrawing midway from IPL 2021 during their Chennai leg. The tournament was suspended on May 4 due to 6 confirmed cases in different camps.

Pat Cummins was one of the first cricketers who stepped up in the country’s fight against COVID-19. The Kolkata Kight Riders’ pacer donated $50000 to UNICEF Australia’s India COVID-19 Crisis Appeal. Brett Lee donated 1 bitcoin (43 lakhs) to Crypto Relief. Sachin Tendulkar, Nicholas Pooran, Jaydev Unadkat, and Jason Behrednroff also donated to different relief funds.

Earlier today, India skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma launched an ‘In This Together’ campaign to raise funds. The couple has donated a sum of Rs 2 crore.
