With each passing day, the date of the first Test match between India and England is coming nearer. Fans just can’t wait to watch the Indian team take revenge on the England team. This time, though, they are very much confident that the hosts team will not repeat the previous gaffe and will emerge as the winner in the end.

- Sachin Tendulkar tops the list of most runs scored in the contests between the two teams till now. Currently, no one seems to be anywhere close to that record but yes, the England skipper has a real chance to break into top three in the list of most runs scored in competitions between the two teams. With a total of 1735 runs, he stands on the fifth on the list with just 215 runs away from the record of Rahul Dravid. There are even chances of him being scoring those 215 runs to make a spot for him in top three batsmen amongst these two teams.

- Alastair Cook, who recently became the youngest player to score 10,000 runs, breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar, has a chance of breaking his one more record. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list of most centuries scored in the contest between the two teams whereas Cook holds five tons under his belt. He needs to score three more centuries to break another record held by Master Blaster.

- Both Stuart Broad and Ishant Sharma will have a chance to eclipse the mark of 50 wickets in the competitions played between the two teams. Stuart Broad is just four scalps away from the record whereas Ishant Sharma needs 15 wickets to achieve the same.
- By leading the England team in all five Test matches of the series, Alastair Cook will climb to the second spot in terms of leading a team in most Test matches between both countries. Currently, M.S. Dhoni holds the top spot as the former Test captain led Indian team in 15 Test matches. Cook is on the fifth spot as he has led his team in 9 games. By the end of the series, he will be sitting at the second spot along with Sunil Gavaskar, who led India in 14 games against England.
- By appearing in all five Test of the series, Cook will become the most capped England player in the Test matches between these two teams. For England, David Gower has played most Test matches against India as he made an appearance in 24 games whereas Cook has marked his presence in 20 games against India. By playing all 5 games of the series, Cook will become a most capped player for his team in Test matches vs India. Sunil Gavaskar leads this list with a total of 38 games against England.
- Alastair Cook also has a chance to break the record of the former Indian all-rounder Eknath Solkar as he needs just one more catch to climb to the third spot in terms of most catches by a player in matches between the two teams. He has a real chance of breaking Rahul Dravid’s record as well who sits at the second spot with 30 catches to his name. Though this record looks tough but yes he will have a chance to break this record as well.

- James Anderson, who’ll miss the Rajkot Test due to injury, needs 14 more wickets to claim the top position of most wickets in competition between the two teams. Currently, top three spots are acquired by Indian players with Bhagwath Chandrasekhar at the top with 95 wickets to his name.
