The ball-tampering saga involving the Australian team had left the cricketing world shell-shocked as a spoof video of Ricky Ponting has gone viral on the internet.
On the third day of the Cape Town Test against South Africa, Cameron Bancroft was caught using yellow tape while scuffing the ball. Once the broadcasters SuperSport TV repeatedly aired the footage and even displayed it on the giant screen, Bancroft was seen slipping the yellow tape inside his trousers.
Later, Bancroft along with skipper Steven Smith admitted that the team had pre-planned the whole thing. The repercussions soon followed. The ICC banned Smith for one Test match and handed three demerit points to Bancroft.
Cricket Australia treated the duo along with David Warner even more harshly. The board banned Warner and Smith for a year and Bancroft for nine months.
Not only that, the trio suffered setbacks from other teams and sponsors too. They lost their personal sponsors while some teams ended their contracts.
The BCCI barred Smith and Warner from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On the other hand, Somerset ended its contract with Bancroft.
And while the incident was widely condemned by the majority, some managed to find a funny side of it. Recently, a video became viral after it poked fun at the Australian team, calling them ‘cheats’. It was also shared by the former England player Kevin Pietersen. I
And now another video is doing the round on the internet. And one can say that the video is as hilarious as one can expect. The makers have dubbed the dialogues of famous Bollywood movie ‘Sholay’ and have morphed the characters’ faces with those of the players.
Interestingly, the former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting plays the role of Gabbar while the disgraced trio could be seen begging for mercy from him. And if that was not enough, even Virat Kohli could be seen in the video who bursted into a laughter.
