The Indian opener Rohit Sharma continued his love with Eden garden against West Indies in the first practice match. He played a superb innings of 98 runs and helped Indian team to post a huge total on the board. Unlucky Rohit missed the second ton of his T20 career by just 2 runs but still he will be a happy man as his valuable innings helped India to win the match.
Eden Garden is one of the lucky grounds for Rohit Sharma as Rohit has scored loads of runs on this ground. Rohit made his test debut on this ground in the historic last series of Sachin Tendulkar. All the spotlight and media attention was on Sachin Tendulkar but Rohit Sharma stole the show with his innings as he scored a century on his test debut and achieved the rare feat. He played a mammoth innings of 177 runs and helped Indian team to post a total of 453 runs on the board. India won that match by an innings and 51 runs.
The next year in the same month Rohit Sharma shattered all the ODI records and played a devastating innings of 264 runs against Sri Lanka on his lucky ground. Opening the innings for India he scored 264 runs which included 33 fours and 9 sky towering sixes. He became the first man on the planet to score two double centuries in ODI, the record which is still unbroken. That innings went down to the history books.
Not only in international cricket, in Ranji Trophy too Rohit has a good record on this ground. In Ranji Trophy 2010/11 he played an innings of 200* not out against the hosts Bengal. Riding on his double century Mumbai went on to post a huge total of 621 runs on the board.
Talking of T20 cricket; in the final of IPL last year Rohit Sharma scored a quick fire 50 runs in just 26 balls to help his team cross the 200 run mark and Mumbai Indians went on to win the IPL trophy for the second time in the history of IPL.
Surely these stats show that Rohit loves to bat on this ground The atmosphere and air of Eden Garden suits him perfectly as whenever he bats here he always break one or the other record. Indian team may not have a good record against Pakistan on this ground but looking at stats of Rohit Sharma the Indian team is hoping for a win here.
