Team India’s cricketer Rohit Sharma has pleaded everyone to take precautions in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus. The pandemic has triggered all sports events around the world. As the cases are also emerging at rapid speed in India, the Board of Control of Cricket for India (BCCI) called off all the cricket events in India, including Indian Premier League(IPL) 2020.

India’s vice-captain Rohit had already taken a break before the start of the three-match ODI series which was later called off after the first match was declared abandoned.

The batsman was planning to straight-away play the IPL after he sustained a calf injury during the New Zealand tour.

Stay safe everyone: Rohit Sharma

Taking to Twitter, Rohit Sharma appealed everyone to remain safe and take immediate steps to put an end to COVID-19. In a short clip, he also appreciated the efforts of doctors and nurses who are risking their lives.

“I just wanted to talk about a few things. The last few weeks have been tough times for all of us and the world has come to a standstill which is very sad to see. The only thing we can do to get back to normal is by all of us coming together and how we can do is that being a little smart, little proactive, knowing our surroundings and as and when you are getting any symptoms, informing the nearest medical authorities because we all want kids to go to the school, we all want to go to the malls, we all want to watch movies in theatres.

“I appreciate the efforts of the doctors and the nurses around the world who have put their lives at risk while taking care of the people who have been tested positive.”

“Last, but no the least, my heart goes out to the people who have lost their lives and their families. Take care and be safe”, said Rohit Sharma in a video that was posted by him on his official Twitter handle.
