A day after Indian captain Virat Kohli donated money, his deputy Rohit Sharma has also come forward and has donated the money to PM’s Relief Fund to combat the deadly coronavirus. So far, the virus has affected 1,251 peoples across India.

Taking to Twitter, on Tuesday, Rohit informed that he has donated INR 45 lakh to Prime Minister Cares Fund and INR 25 lakh to Maharastra Chief Minister Relief Fund.  Moreover, he has also donated money to different welfare organisations. The vice-captain has contributed INR 5 lakh each to Feeding India and for the Welfare of Stray Dogs.

“We need our country back on feet & the onus is on us. I’ve done my bit to donate 45lakhs to #PMCaresFunds, 25lakhs to #CMReliefFund Maharashtra, 5lakhs to @FeedingIndiaand 5lakhs to #WelfareOfStrayDogs.Let’s get behind our leaders and support them @narendramodi @CMOMaharashtra,” Rohit Sharma wrote on Twitter.

Maharashtra is the worst affected state from the deadly virus. So far, 230 peoples have tested positive in the state among them 100 cases are alone from Mumbai. And, the death toll from the coronavirus infection in Maharashtra rose to 11.

Many big sports personalities have contributed to support the needy amid the lockdown because of the pandemic.

India’s legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has donated INR 50 lakh in the relief fund to support the needy. Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni donated the amount to Mukul Madhav Foundation, a public charitable trust in Pune, through a crowdfunding website called ‘Ketto’.

Apart from Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane also donated some amount of money to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Brothers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan donated over 4,000 masks in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also donated INR 51 crore to the PM’s relief fund. Fans appreciated the Indian board for contribution in tough times.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have also donated money in Prime Minister’s Care Fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,
