One of the most popular dance reality shows in India, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja is all set to begin shortly and the center of attraction of this season of JDJ is Shantakumaran Sreesanth. Yes, it is a fact that the former Indian speedster is a participant in JDJ 6. The popular show, JDJ drew its concept from a show in BBC named “Dancing with Stars” and started back in 2006. Since then, there has been many celebrities who have participated in the competition. Also, Ajay Jadeja, the former Indian batsman, participated in the very first season of JDJ. Participation of cricketers is not a new thing in JDJ.
Though to mention, the second season of JDJ did not have any participating cricketers but some sportsmen did participate in the second season including former hockey player and coach, Mir Ranjan Negi. He was eliminated in round 11 of the competition.
Another memorable sportsman participation in JDJ was witnessed in Season 5 when Sri Lankan former captain Sanath Jayasuriya was a participant.
After being inflicted by a ban from cricket due to his active involvement in Match Fixing Scandals in IPL 6, Sreesanth seems to have chosen a new career for him and JDJ could well mark its beginning.
Sreesanth will be contesting against some other celebrities. He will be competing against Sophie Choudry, Kritika Kamra, Purab Kohli, Mouni Roy, Kiku Sharda as Palak, Pooja Banerjee, Shakti Mohan, Sukhwinder Singh, Akshat Singh, Ashish Sharma, Karan Tacker and VJ Andy.
At present Sreesanth is completely busy with his schedule for Dancing. It seems as if that he has deleted CRICKET from his wish list. This appears to be really unexpected. His words when he was asked about IPL were as such
“I am not watching IPL 7. All my time is consumed by ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. I am devoting eight hours every day practising and learning new dance forms. Otherwise, I watch previous seasons of Jhalak on YouTube,”
The Former CRICKETER stated that his participation in the realty show will serve him good and he expects that he can overcome from the bitter phase of his life, of which he is going through at present.
He is presently serving the sentence of a life ban from any form of Cricket due to his involvement in Spot Fixing scandals in the last IPL. It is indeed sorrowful to see that a pacer with such talent has got himself deviated by some unlawful attractions and has to pay his price for that.
India required a pacer like him but it is him who spoiled the spirit of the game and as expected has been harshly punished by BCCI.
Recently Sreesanth got married and words from him about marriage and his participation were like these:
“The show is helping me deal with the bad phase in my life. My family, and especially my wife support me. Marriage has changed me as a person and when I got the opportunity to start afresh with ‘Jhalak…’, I grabbed it.”
Sreesanth married longtime girlfriend Bhuvneshwari Kumari in December, 2013.
Sreesanth has a background in dancing. He was a professional dancer before his entry in the world of cricket and was once called as the BEST DANCER in Indian Cricket Team! It is now time to do justice to another talent hidden inside him, i.e dancing. His words about dance and dancing were:
“I am a trained dancer but never took part in a competition. Music and dance is in my blood. All my family members have given a lot of preference to art. Being from a South Indian household, it was mandatory in the family to learn extra-curricular activities. I learnt dance till my high school.”
Apart from the dance-reality show, Sreesanth will also be making his debut in the film industry this year. He is the music composer and lyricist of a telugu film.
