S Sreesanth, whose seven years ban will end in September this year, has been included in Kerala’s Ranji cricket team. The pacer has expressed his gratitude towards Kerala Cricket Association(KCA) for giving him a chance to be back in the field.

BCCI had imposed a lifetime ban on Sreesanth after he was found guilty in match-fixing in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013. A special court in Delhi had acquitted him of all charges in 2015. But in 2019 Supreme Court asked BCCI to reduce his ban period. Later, his ban period was reduced to seven years. So, in September, this year, he will be available to play for India.

Sreesanth thanked KCA, saying that he is indebted to them for giving him an opportunity. He said that he would end all the past controversies with his fitness and game whenever the match is held.

“I am really indebted to the KCA for giving me a chance. I will prove my fitness and storm back to the game. It is time for all controversies to take rest,” he said in Kochi.

However, amid the pandemic, the domestic season of this year is also under doubt. So, it will be interesting to see that will Sreesanth be back in action this year?

Recently, the speedster revealed that he was waiting to return to the national team for a long time and had realistic dreams. He wishes to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and ending the career by lifting the trophy once again.

S Sreesanth was once a regular player of the national team. He was a member during India’s victory in the ICC World T20 2007 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.  Misbah-ul-Haq’s catch taken by him in the grand finale of the T20 World Cup 2007 is still unforgettable.

Sreesanth has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is where the right-arm pacer took 87, 75 and seven wickets respectively. He served last time for the Indian team in The Oval Test (against England) in August 2011.
