S Sreesanth Writes To COA Head Vinod Rai To Lift His Life Ban

Tainted fast bowler S Sreesanth has written to Vinod Rai, the Head of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (COA), to lift his life ban as the cricketer still hopes to represent the country at the highest level.
Sreesanth, who along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan was banned for life by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee in September 2013, was cleared of all charges by the Delhi trial court in 2015 due to insufficient evidence. However, the BCCI has not lifted its ban since their decision was independent to any criminal proceeding and was based on its independent disciplinary action.
In 2015, he requested the BCCI to allow him to play domestic cricket but the apex board did not change its stand despite court acquitting the charges against the Kerala pacer.
Sreesanth later contested the Kerala assembly elections in 2016 but after losing the Thiruvananthapuram seat, he again thought of returning back to the game.
Recently, he asked the BCCI to issue him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in Scotland but was denied the permission.
Sreesanth, however, is set to defy the BCCI life ban as he will be play for the Ernakulam Cricket Club in the two-day first division league in Kerala. Though, there might be a case when umpires might stop him from playing the match as he has been suspended by the BCCI but the fast-bowler has already taken his stand by saying the validity of the suspension notice is only 90 days.
