Saba Karim, the former India wicketkeeper-batter and selector thinks that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul will walk into India’s T20I XI right now but they need to mould their game. Saba Karim feels the Indian stars have enough experience to make the required changes.

The trio continues to be a force to reckon with, across formats, but with the likes of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer among others knocking on the door, pressure is on the seniors to prove they still merit a place in India’s 2022 T20I World Cup’s playing XI.

Saba Karim Sure That The Trio Of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul Will Walk Into The XI In 2022 T20I World Cup

IPL 2022 showcased the future of Indian cricket and threw up some exciting prospects. At the same time, it also brought forth the struggles of established stars and how they have so far not been able to change their game as per the demands of T20 cricket.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had an IPL 2022 season to forget. KL Rahul scored plenty of runs but his strike rate was a concern for many. The trio continues to be a force to reckon with, across formats, but with several others knocking on the door, pressure is on the seniors to prove they still merit a place, at least in the T20Is.

With the 2022 T20I World Cup approaching, the selectors will soon have to settle down on a squad that they think could bring home the trophy.

“A tough call for the selectors. At this stage, I’m sure all three of them (Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul) will walk into the XI,” Saba Karim was quoted as saying.

“If such criticism is being leveled at them, it is up to them to find a solution so that they emerge in a much better manner. And if it’s not happening then the team management or selectors need to have hard conversations with the individuals involved because there is stiff competition coming through,” Saba Karim added.

“The players whom you have named have enough experience to make the required changes in their batting so that it is beneficial for the national side. I’m sure they understand the needs of modern T20 batting,” Saba Karim said.

KL Rahul sustained a groin injury last week and will miss the England tour next month while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of India’s squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England from July 1 to July 5 in Birmingham.

KL Rahul Was 2nd Highest Run Getter In IPL 2022 But Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Endured A Lean Patch

KL Rahul of Lucknow Super Giants was the second-highest run-getter in IPL 2022 with 616 runs at an average of 51.33 in IPL 2022 but his strike rate of 135.38 and tepid approach towards his innings are the concerns for the Indian team.

Rohit Sharma accumulated 268 runs in 14 matches at an abysmal average of 19.14 and a strike rate of 120.18 with 48 being the highest score in IPL 2022. It was a rare instance where the Mumbai Indians skipper failed to score a half-century in the cash-rich league. Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore-RCB finished the season with 341 runs in 16 innings at an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.98 with two half-centuries against Gujarat Titans.
