In 2003 World Cup India reached the final for the first time since the 1983 World Cup victory. In African continent, South Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe hosted the tournament. Total 14 teams took part in the 54 matches long tournament. Australia under the leadership of Ricky Ponting emerged as the winner after thrashing India in a one-sided final at Johannesburg. The Aussies didn’t lose a single game in the entire tournament as they proved far too superior of the other sides.
Well, it was never in any doubt really, in important World Cup matches Sachin had absolutely no clue against McGrath, here he misjudged not so short ball and speed of the ball so he tried to pull, but the ball rose high in the sky and caught and bowled by McGrath.
Sachin’s wicket left the new Wanderers spectators silent and entire Indian fans cried.
