On Friday (6th September), former Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir died after suffering cardiac arrest. Sachin Tendulkar paid the condolence to the family through twitter and remembered the time when he faced the spinner.

The young Sachin Tendulkar faced the spin bowler. He labelled Qadir as one of the best spinners of his time.

Tendulkar wrote on his official Twitter account, “Remember playing against Abdul Qadir, one of the best spinners of his times. My heartfelt condolences to his family. RIP.”

Qadir will be remembered for his variety of action. He is believed to ball different deliveries in an over. He is credited to keep alive the wrist spin in the 70s and 80s when there was an era of fast bowlers.

His 1987 performance against England is still remembered where he picked nine wickets for 56 runs in a Test innings. The spinner played 67 Test matches and 104 ODIs. He picked 236 Wickets in Test and 132 wickets in ODI career.

He has also captained the team but was not successful. Qadir is also not only done bowling but has given a share in batting also. The flamboyant spinner was also a member of the 1983 World Cup where his best performance was five wickets for 44 runs against Sri Lanka.

Qadir has always stood up against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) politics. He was selected as a chief selector in 2008 but resigned after six months.

He has four sons, all of them have played first-class cricket. His one daughter is married to  Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal.

The 63-year-old has a birthday on 15 September but the fortune was different which took the greatest spinner of his time.
