Moeen Ali and Sam Curran have made significant jumps in the latest release of the ICC Test Players Rankings, while Virat Kohli continued his pinnacle spot in the batting list.
Meanwhile, Ali was exceptional as England beating India at Southampton to seal the five-match Test series. He bagged nine wickets in total to beat the visitors by 60 runs.
Moeen Ali, who grabbed five for 63 and four for 71 in the two innings, has gained 66 points to reach 543 points in bowling, while also gaining one slot to reach seventh place among all-rounders.
The 20-year-old Curran has moved up 29 places to the 43rd position among batsmen after producing crucial knocks of 78 and 46 in his fourth Test match. Furthermore, he has also reached 55th place in the bowlers’ list and 15th position among all-rounders.
On the batting front, Jos Buttler gained 15 slots to reach a career-best 32nd with 584 rating points. He is five spots behind Ben Stokes in the ICC Test Players Rankings, who is the 29th spot.
Opener Keaton Jennings is another one to gain, moving up four places to 86th position in the list for batsmen.
For India, skipper Virat Kohli retained his top spot with 937 points. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the series with 544 runs in his eight innings this series. Similarly, Cheteshwar Pujara, who stays in the sixth position played unbeaten 132, jumped from 763 to 798 points.
India fast bowler Mohammad Shami has slotted back to the top 20 as his six-wicket match haul helped him to jump three places to 19th position among bowlers. His teammate Ishant Sharma’s four wickets saw him move up one spot to 25th position. Jasprit Bumrah has continued the strong start to his Test career, moving to a career-best 487 points while retaining 37th position after his fifth Test.
