The fate of former Australian captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner lies solely in the hands of the verdict from Cricket Australia.
If sources are to be believed in, the two pillars of Australian cricket in recent times might be looking at a possible life ban.
After the whole Sandpaper Gate unfolded, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals were quick to sack Steve Smith from the coveted position of captaincy.

IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, in a recent interaction, affirmed that Smith and Warner’s chances of featuring the upcoming edition of the tournament depend on the verdict from Cricket Australia.
“We have written to cricket Australia & are waiting for their reply. If they punish then we will also obviously think along those lines,” stated IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla while talking to ANI.
We cannot react before the report reaches us officially: Shukla

Both Steve Smith and David Warner captained their respective sides Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. SRH officials are currently waiting for a response from CA lynchpins to take necessary actions.
“Also, we cannot react before the report reaches us officially. We want everything to be investigated,” Shukla added.
CA Chief James Sutherland, along with general manager and legal counsel, Iain Roy and Pat Howard, is currently in South Africa to probe the ball tampering case. The trio is scheduled to convene at Jo’Burg to take necessary actions against Smith and Warner.
Things look even more gloomy for David Warner after he went rogue and decided to pop bottle champagne with his accomplices, in the team hotel at Cape Town.
Devasted Australian team members objected to Warner’s untimely celebrations, and demanded him to be moved to a different hotel to prevent a major scuffle with the rest of the players.
