Shane Bond appointed as Mumbai Indians bowling coach
Former New Zealand fast-bowler Shane Bond has been appointed as the bowling coach for Mumbai Indians for 2015 IPL season.
The 39-year old Kiwi, who played for KKR in 2010 IPL season, will now try to settle into this new role when he joins the ranks of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who was appointed as the head coach of Mumbai Indians last month, Jonty Rhodes (fielding coach) and Robin Singh (batting coach).
Commenting upon his new responsibility, Bond said:
“Its’ my privilege to be associated with the most highly regarded franchise in IPL. I look forward to bring in my cricketing experience to work along with Ricky (Ponting) and the team.”
Earlier today, Bond decided to step down as New Zealand’s bowling coach after ICC World Cup 2015. His contract ended after the completion of the World Cup and he decided not to renew it after the mega event.
