The legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne backed the Australian pace-bowling all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. He praised the Australian cricketer and has wished to see him in the Ashes series.

Though Marcus Stoinis made his international debut in 2015 and gradually become a crucial member in Australia’s limited-overs cricket since late 2017. The 29-year-old has mostly impressed with his batting as he has scored 947 runs in 28 ODI innings with an average of 43.04. This average becomes cooler in the deep analysis after understanding the fact that he has batted more in the middle order.

He has already scored seven 50+ scores in ODI career, including one incredible fighting century knock. However, he has faced hard lucks in all those matches as Australia faced defeats in all those seven matches.

Meanwhile, his bowling performances are not so impressive yet. The right-arm medium pacer has picked up 24 wickets in 28 ODIs with an average of 45.29. On the other hand, he has claimed nine wickets in 19 T20Is with an average of 35.44.

However, his breakthrough abilities have been attracted to Shane Warne. Moreover, he also feels that Marcus Stoinis can be an effective batsman at no.6 position. On Wednesday (13th March), during the Delhi ODI, Marcus Stoinis dismissed the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, and Shane Warne has liked that.

It was the series decider final ODI of the five-match ODI series between India and Australia in India. After Australia managed 272/9 (50 overs) in the first innings, they had to defend the total to win the series. In the crucial time of the second innings, Marcus Stoinis provided the vital breakthrough by dismissing Virat Kohli on 20 runs.

After the Virat Kohli’s dismissal, Shane Warne posted on his official Twitter account, “Stoinis once again gets the breakthrough and the big wicket of the opposition in @imVkohli ! I hope the selectors pick him for the number 6 spot in the #Ashes as he also has the ability to drag his teamates along with his energy & instilles belief”

Australia won that match by 35 runs after bowling out the host side on 237 runs. Marcus Stoinis finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-31-2. On the last ball of the match, the medium pacer bowled Kuldeep Yadav (8 runs).

The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is still waiting to make his Test debut. He was selected in the Test squads for a few times, but he has not earned the Test cap yet. The all-rounder has played 53 first-class matches where he has scored 2,857 runs and also has picked up 52 wickets.

Just a few days after the end of 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, The Ashes 2019 will begin (from 1st August). While England and Wales will host the upcoming World Cup, England will also host The Ashes 2019. Though Australia will start The Ashes 2019 as the defending champions, they haven’t won it in England since 2001.
