Shocking- Here is why Virat Kohli character was removed from MSD’s biopic
India’s limited overs captain MS Dhoni’s biopic- “MS Dhoni- The Untold Story” was released last week and has got great reviews from critics across the country.
The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer has not disappointed at the box office either as it is on course to join 100 crore club by the weekend as it has been the second biggest opener of Bollywood in 2016.
The movie has shown an excellent scene about Yuvraj Singh which has been the best part of the movie. However, there were also earlier reports that Virat Kohli character was also an integral part of the movie.
It was reported that Pakistan actor Fawad Khan has played the role of Virat Kohli in the biopic. But apparently the character of Virat Kohli was removed from the movie one week ahead of its release.
A source close to the production has also confirmed that Fawad Khan was very much part of the movie as he portrayed Virat Kohli in MS Dhoni- The Untold Story as he has shot his scenes with Sushant Singh.
The source has further confirmed there is an important part which depicts Virat Kohli’s relationship with MS Dhoni but the role was scrapped one week ahead of the release.
One of the major reasons that is expected of scrapping is due to the tensions between India and Pakistan in the recent days which has seen Indian producers ban Pakistan actors from Indian TV shows and movies until the things get resolved between the two countries.
With Uri attacks happening a few weeks ago, the movie unit might have decided to scrap the character and considering the uncertain fate of films like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees at the box office, it looks like a wise decision.
