Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already confirmed to host two T20Is between Asia XI and World XI at Dhaka on 18th and 21st March 2020. Another match between Asia XI and World XI is on the cards as the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Sardar Patel Stadium (Motera) is likely to re-open for the international cricket with this special match.
Sardar Patel Stadium (Motera) has a great history in international cricket. We have experienced many memorable international cricket matches at this venue. Since November 2014, it hasn’t organised any international cricket match yet due to the renovation.
Around INR 700 crore has been spent to build-up the new Sardar Patel Stadium. It is likely to become the largest capacity cricket stadium in the world as it can run a cricket match with 1.10 lakh spectators. At present, Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is holding the records of the largest capacity cricket stadium as it has the capacity of 1,00,024 people.

There will be Asia XI vs World XI game – Sourav Ganguly
The new Sardar Patel Stadium is likely to be re-open in March 2020. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has agreed that they have a plan to organise a cricket match between Asia XI and World XI as the inaugural match of the new Sardar Patel Stadium. However, he has also added that they are waiting for approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Ganguly told the Indian Express, “There will be Asia XI vs World XI game but it will be subject to ICC’s approval.”
In the birth centenary occasion of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, the BCB has scheduled to organise two T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (Dhaka). These two T20Is will be played on 18th and 21st march 2020. The BCB has recently requested the BCCI to allow some Indian international cricketers for these special matches. MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are among those Indian cricketers who have been invited by the BCB.
