South Africans had a run feast against West Indies at Bull Ring, Johannesburg with Captain AB de Villiers and Openers Hashim Amla & Rilee Rossouw tanked up the scorecard with big knocks and kept on breaking records.

Here are the Statistical Highlights during the 2nd ODI:

–> Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw shared a stand of 247 runs for the opening wicket, which was the highest opening stand for South Africa in ODI Cricket with their previous best was 235 held by Gary Kirsten & H Gibbs vs India in 2000.

This was the 6th highest opening stand in ODIs and 29th instance of 200+ opening stand.

It was also the highest stand for any wicket for South Africa with the previous best been between Hashim Amla and Ab de Villiers, who shared 238 in 2013 vs Pakistan at same venue.

–> Hashim Amla became the fastest player to score 18th ODI Century. He score that many Centuries in 102 innings beating Kohli, who reached 18 Centuries in 118 innings’.

–> AB De Villiers completed his fifty in just 16 balls, breaking the fastest fifty record which was on the name of Sanath Jayasuriya in 17 balls.

–> AB de Villiers in 31 balls, scored the fastest century of ODI history, beating Corey Anderson’s 36-ball Century in 2014, also vs West Indies.

Ab de Villiers’ 31 ball Century was fastest also in the List A Cricket and Second fastest in Overall Recognized Cricket. The fastest Century in Cricket has been by Chris Gayle in 30 balls for RCB in 2013 IPL edition vs PWI.

–> Only twice, a batsman coming in to bat after 30th over managed to score Century in ODIs. On both the instances, AB de Villiers was the batsman. (Stat via: Dilip Stats on Twitter)

Other time he score a century coming after 30th over was in 2010 vs India at Ahmedabad.

–> This was the first time when Three Centuries were recorded in an ODI innings.

This was only the 2nd instance when three Centuries were recorded in a List A innings. The other instance was in 1998 by Wills XI vs Hyderabad at LB Shastri Stadium.

–> AB de Villiers smashed 16 sixes in his innings, equalling Rohit Sharma’s record for most sixes in an ODI innings.

–> Only 7 times Individuals managed to scored 150+ in an ODI innings without hitting a six. Hashim Amla did it twice.

–> AB de Villiers possessed Strike rate of 338.63 during his innings; highest Strike rate in an innings with minimum qualification of facing 10 balls.

–> Hashim Amla and ABDe Villiers shared stand of 192 in 67 balls for 2nd wicket at a run rate of 17.19 which was the second highest run rate recorded partnership after Nathan Astle-Craig McMillan’s 17.73 during their 136* stand against USA in 2004 (minimum of 100 run partnerships).

–> South Africa posted 439 for 2 in 50 overs; beating their highest ODI total of 438 for 9 also came at Johannesburg.

Interesting thing about Johannesburg is that it has been host for three of four highest Team Totals in ODI Cricket history.

–> An aggregate of 730 runs were recorded in the match; the third highest in an ODI match.

–> Not even a single maiden was recorded throughout the match. Only the 13th instance in ODI Cricket, where not a maiden was recorded in Complete match (Minimum of 100 overs bowled in a match).
