Krishnamachari Srikkanth has picked Mumbai Indians as the favourites to win the qualifier match against Delhi Capitals on Thursday (November 5). He believes that MI’s all-round team effort will outplay inconsistent DC.

With Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult back in the playing XI after being rested in the last match, the former Indian cricketer stated that Mumbai Indians would be back in full strength to combat DC. Apart from the fast bowler’s performance, he also heaped praise on spinners, Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar, and the athletic fielding of MI.

Srikkanth reckons that it is tough to beat Rohit Sharma’s led team

“The team should be back in full strength against Delhi. In Bumrah and Boult, the new ball department is in very safe hands. The spinners have been par and add their athletic fielding, Mumbai becomes the toughest team to beat: man-to-man,” Krishnamachari Srikkanth added.

For Delhi Capitals, Srikkanth has been not so positive for their winning chances. Although DC had dominated the points table in the first half, they tumbled down in the latter half. He said that the team is over-reliant on Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Shreyas Iyer to get runs for them.

“Delhi, on the other hand, have been blowing hot and cold. For a team that dominated the first half of the league, the wheels did come off a bit. The over-reliance on Dhawan at the top and the lack of stability if and when skipper Shreyas fails have become too difficult to mask.

The 60-year-old said that Delhi was going to need some special individual performances if they are to upset Mumbai.

“For Delhi to upstage Mumbai this night, they are going to be hoping for distinctive individual performances relatively than attempting to match their opponents one-to-one,” Krishnamachari Srikkanth added.
