India has produced some prolific run scorers since the early days of cricket. From Sunil Gavaskar to Sachin Tendulkar to modern day great Virat Kohli, Indian batters have made a name for themselves for scoring huge hundreds once they start hitting the ball from the middle of the bat. Earlier today Virat Kohli reached his fifth double century when he smashed 213 runs in the first innings of the second Test at Nagpur to help India post a mammoth total.

Sachin Tendulkar:Arguably the complete batsman in the history of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has been phenomenal with the bat for India for quite a long period. Possessing the record of most Test runs and the highest number of centuries, Sachin was an orthodox cricketer and had the ability to play all the shots both sides of the wicket. In the 200 Test matches, he has featured for India over a span of 24 years; Sachin has scored 6 double centuries. Sachin scored his first double hundred at the age of 26 against New Zealand when he played a magnificent knock of 217 runs at Ahmedabad. He scored two double hundreds against Australia and one against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.
Virender Sehwag:Considered to be the most destructive opening batsman India has ever produced, Sehwag played his attacking game from the first ball even in Test cricket. The cricketer from Delhi holds the record of scoring two triple centuries in his career. Besides that, the swashbuckling opener also scored six double hundred which puts him in the same row along with the legend Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag scored three double hundreds against Pakistan including a triple hundred, two against Sri Lanka and one against South Africa which remains his best score in Test cricket.
Rahul Dravid:The greatest ever no 3 batsmen in Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid have the best defense among all and had the superb mentality. Dravid, who is considered as ‘The Wall’ is well-known for batting long hours and leaving the ball well outside off-stump. Ideal for Test cricket, He has been a savior for India on a number of occasions after India lost some early wickets. With 36 Test hundreds in 164 matches, Rahul Dravid has also scored 5 double centuries one each against Zimbabwe, England, New Zealand, Australia, and Pakistan. However, the highest score came against Pakistan when he scored a brilliant 270 at Rawalpindi in 2004.
Virat Kohli:The current skipper of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli has made it a habit of breaking records as he broke a handful of record on his way to scoring another double hundred against Sri Lanka earlier today. With only 61 Test matches under his belt, Kohli has reached to 19 centuries and 5 double hundreds including today’s double century against Sri Lanka and has been leading this Indian team right from the front. He has hit the five double hundreds against five different countries with his highest score of 235 coming against England last year. He has also scored against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and West Indies. With a lot of cricket left for him, he is expected to break all the records.
Sunil Gavaskar:Considered to be one of the greatest in the history of Indian cricket, Sunil Gavaskar played in the era of Malcolm Marshall, Jewel Garner , and Curtly Ambrose to name a few without the helmet and scored tons of runs for India. He also had record of most number of Test centuries till Sachin Tendulkar broke the record of 34 Test centuries. He has scored four double centuries in his entire career which included three against West Indies who had the best bowling attack in that time. Another double hundred came against England when he scored 221 at Kennington Oval in 1979.
