Australian skipper Steve Smith is setting a benchmark when it comes to batting in Test matches. The batsman averages a staggering 60 up in the format currently which completely justifies his position as the number one Test batsman in the world. As far his captaincy record is concerned the charming blonde is leading his counterpart Joe Root in the ongoing Magellan Ashes series by a margin of 2-0.

However, there is one department where Smith is going through a losing streak. The fidgety batsman is going through a horrible luck at the coin tosses held at the starting of the matches. Smith has lost both the tosses against Joe Root so far in the Ashes. With the third Test set to be held at the WACA, another interesting fact that needs to be highlighted is that Smith has never led his team to a Test win at the stadium.

Speaking about the same, Aussie head coach Darren Lehmann said on Thursday:

“He doesn’t (win them),” “He’s hopeless.

“We don’t even try and worry about what we want to do because we know the opposition are going to decide anyway! He’ll win a toss somewhere.” Lehmann added.

The Adelaide Test was the fourth consecutive time Smith lost the coin toss which accounts to 12 losses in the last 17 Tests he has featured in. The tragedy dates back to the Sri Lanka series last year where the Australians ended on the wrong side of a 3-0 whitewash at the island nation. The team hosted South Africa at home next, where Smith again lost all the tosses to Protea captain Faf du Plessis and also the series 1-2.

Smith went to Asia once again where he had some success at the toss by winning two out of three against Pakistan and three out of four against Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.
