Having a fantastic domestic season 2019-20, then scoring about 480 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, was not enough for Suryakumar Yadav to earn the call from the national team. The Mumbaikar was left when the national selector announced the squad for the Australia tour.
Suryakumar opened up he was hoping to be in the squad following his impressive stint in the 13th edition of the cash-rich league. But after not seeing his name on the list, he revealed that he could not overcome dejection and was unable to train that day. He expressed to the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma that he was disappointed.
“Frankly, I was expecting to be selected this time. I was a bit disappointed when I found my name missing. I couldn’t even train that day and it was difficult to take my mind off from that dejection. Even Rohit asked me if I was disappointed and I told him I was,” Suraykumar Yadav said in an interview with Mumbai Indians.
I Will Try To Make My Case Stronger For A National Call-up: Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav, however, has gulped that grief and is ready to prove to everyone that it was wrong to not select him. He reckons that he would again score big in domestic games and IPLs so that this time national selectors could not ignore him.
But never mind. I will wait for my chances. There is a lot of time to show my cricket abilities and make my case stronger for a national call-up. I hope I can score big in domestic games and then do well in the next IPL to catch the attention of the selectors,” he added.
In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20, Suryakumar Yadav was the third-highest run-getting, scoring 392 runs in 11 matches at the strike rate of 168.97. He was the fourth-highest scorer for Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. Indeed, he is a great cricketer and opportunities might knock him next year.
