Tailenders India dominates Day 2, England trail by 413 runs
Probably it was another India’s Day but a fairy tale type. With a good first session from overnight batsmen but a brilliant comeback from hosts to grab up quick wickets before an outstanding stand put up by No.9 and No.11 Bhuvi and Shami respectively, scoring their maiden fifties helping India to past 450, first time in 3 and half years outside India. Later India managed to pick a wicket of Cook before Stumps.
Continuing from where they left, Bhuvi and Shami moved towards their maiden fifties. Bhuvi who kept his wicket safe took a single towards point to complete the deserving milestone. Shami in the same over smashed a ball of Broad over boundary for a Six, completing his fifty in an emphatic fashion. Later Bhuvi went over Ali smashing him over the head for a boundary. Soon the next ball tried the same but ended giving up a catch to Root as a 111 run partnership for 10th wicket came to an end.
It just took 15 deliveries for India to get the first breakthrough as Shami in his second over got rid of Cook, who tried to play across ending up far across and got bowled with ball crashing onto leg stump.
The overnight batsmen Vijay and Dhoni continued the work. MSD got some close call in first hour of play with a catch been put down but could managed to surevive. Vijay’s innings came to an end on 146 when Anderson struck infront and umpires finger raised to which would be missing the stumps. Jadeja who came after Vijay started with some aggressive intent hitting Ali for back to back sixers down the ground. It all looked good at Lunch with India on 342 for 5.
After Lunch, like on Day 1, England came back well into the game as they struck on the second over after Lunch as Jadeja departed edging to keeper. Soon after two overs, Dhoni, who tried for a quick run got run out with a direct hit from Jimmy. Binny too played a poor shot in the same over as India were 8 down. It became down to verge whether India will cross 350 mark as India lost their fourth wicket after Lunch collapsing from 344/5 as Ishant left a ball alone which came in to rattle the stumps.
But Bhuvneshwar Kumar ensured India cross 350 and put some runs as he denied singles to bring Shami on strike. But once he started to give Shami the strike, he went all over with cracking boundaries. Both batted for two hours before Tea with extra half an hour was used. They both batted till Tea break helping India even pass 400 as they went to Tea with 433/9.
