Bangladesh batsmen Tamim Iqbal, Shakib AL Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are on the brink of individual achievements in One Day International cricket. They have a good chance of completing their milestones in forthcoming England series at home starting from October 7.
Tamim needs 69 runs more to become the first Bangladeshi to score 5000 runs in ODIs. Shakib needs 20 runs to complete his 4500 runs and Mushfiqur requires 24 more for his 4000 runs respectively.
Tamim, the southpaw, made his ODI debut in 2007 against Zimbabwe in Harare. He played in the 2007 World Cup in West Indies where he played an important role in defeating India at Queens Park Oval, in Port of Spain.
Tamim has now 4931 runs in 156 ODIs at ana average of 32.44. He gas seven hundred and 33 fifties. He holds the record of having most runs, centuries and fifties for Bangladesh in ODIs. If he scored 69 more runs during the England series at home, he will be first Bangladesh batsman to score 5000 ODI runs for Bangladesh.
At the same time, all-rounder Shakib AL Hasan is a seasoned warrior for Bangladesh. He played his first ODI against Zimbabwe way back in 2006 in Harare. Since then, he gave equal support with both bat and ball in red and green jersey.
He is currently Bangladesh’s leading wicket-taker across the formats. Shakib currently has 4480 runs in 160 ODIs with six hundred and 30 half centuries. He has a healthy average of 35. He needs just 20 more runs to complete his 4500 ODI runs.
Among the three Bangladesh batsmen wicketkeeper-batsman, Mushfiqur Rahim is one of them as he started his ODI career in the same match where Shakib made his debut. He is Bangladesh’s best wicketkeeper as well as a good middle order batsman for Bangladesh.
He has scored 3976 runs in 161 ODIs for Bangladesh. He has an average of 31.30. He has 4 hundred and 22 half centuries. He requires 24 runs to reach 4000 ODI runs landmark as the third Bangladeshi.
This trio will play the next ODI on October 7 against visiting England in Mirpur She-e-Bangla Stadium.
