Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sri Lanka’s hard hitting opening turns 39 today on the 14th of October. Dilshan has been a prolific run scorer for Sri Lanka across all the formats and his contribution to the improvement of the Sri Lankan side is phenomenal indeed. After retiring from test matches in 2013, Dilshan continued scoring heavily in the shorter forms for Sri Lanka.
Over the years, Dilshan has made the Dilscoop his own trademark shot. It is Dilshan’s improved version of the scoop shot, which is a very significant shot in T20 cricket. Dilshan has time and again played the shot with utmost ease and grace.
In the video below, he played the Dilscoop against the menacing Mitchell Starc, who tends to bowl in excess of 145 km/hr. Talk about courage, and you wouldn’t find anything more courageous than that!
